One of my favourite things to do while on holiday is to explore the local shops. I like buying clothes and accessories abroad as it means you’re less likely to be wearing the exact same outfit as the girl next to you. Here are some of my favourite cruise ports for shopping.

Kusadasi, Turkey

If you’re prepared to haggle with the shop keepers then there are some real treasures to be found in Kusadasi. The narrow streets of the city are packed with little shops and while some of them all have similar goods if you look hard enough you can find some really unique items.

Turkey is home to some stunning jewellery and I’ve bought some really gorgeous pieces here. Turkish carpets and rugs can be found in abundance here too. You can even visit shops where the rugs are handmade on the premises and if you’re lucky you might get to see some of the locals working on them.

Rhodes is the perfect island if you’re looking for leather goods. Bags, jackets, gloves, belts, wallets- you name it they have it. Haggling is practiced here too, although not as widely as in Turkey where they will literally haggle for everything.

Corfu is one of my favourite places to go shoe shopping. They have an amazing selection of gorgeous leather shoes at amazing prices. I’ve previously gone back on board with five pairs of shoes after a day shopping in Corfu! Corfu, like Turkey, also has some gorgeous jewellery and you can find some really unique designs here that will definitely make you stand out from the crowd once you return home.

New York

I’ve personally never been on a cruise which stops in New York but for shopping The Big Apple is undoubtedly the place to be. Shoes, handbags, jewellery- they really do have it all here. Your only problem might be making space for all your purchases in your suitcase!

Thanks Emma
